7 Essential Oils To Soothe Sensitive Skin

7 Essential oils to soothe sensitive skin

If you also struggle with sensitive skin, I think we can both agree that red, itchy, stingy and inflamed skin is no joke. And a constant struggle. And, if you’re like me, you’ve probably tried out a gazillion products made for “sensitive skin” only to still end up with red and inflamed skin. Not cool. If you’re looking for some natural alternatives to treating your sensitive skin, then this post is for you.

Using skin care products that are loaded with harsh chemicals is a no-go for sensitive skin. Grabbing those super expensive skin care products with the hopes that more expensive equals more effective, only to realise it still doesn’t work can become disheartening. But not to worry, I have a simple, effective solution to help treat sensitive skin without breaking the bank.

In this post, I’ll share with you the 7 essential oils to use to soothe sensitive skin. So keep an eye out for skincare products containing one or more of these essential oils. I’ve also included a printable list that you can refer to next time you’re shopping for skin care products.

1. Lavender

Lavender

This is my go-to essential oil to help me feel calm and relaxed after a stressful day. Not only is it super calming, but it’s also my go-to essential oil for my sensitive skin. It helps to reduce inflamed skin and is particularly used to soothe skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and rosacea. It also helps to soothe sunburnt skin.

Try our Calm Range that is made specifically for sensitive skin and contains lavender, chamomile and neroli essential oils.

2. Geranium

If you struggle with acne and pimples, the geranium essential oil is for you. Bacteria on your skin may cause pimples to break out. Geranium oil has excellent antibacterial activity and helps to fight breakouts. It balances the skin’s pH and regulates the skin’s sebum production. This helps to make your skin look and feel normal and healthy, and great for all skin types. It’s high in monoterpenes that helps to decrease redness and inflammation and encourages cell regeneration and turnover. Helping your skin look younger. So say goodbye to redness, pimples and red skin with this powerful essential oil.

Try our Happy Range that will help balance your skin and will make you smile. This range contains bergamot, lemongrass, eucalyptus and bergamot essential oils.

3. Sandalwood

This woody essential oil helps protect the skin against irritants, pollutants and impurities due to its high levels of anti-oxidants. Which is great to protect your skin against the harmful, unseen air pollutants we come in contact with every day. It also helps to reduce inflammation and relieves pain, making it great for sensitive skin. Furthermore, sandalwood helps to increase skin moisture and to maintain normal sebum levels.

Sandalwood essential oil is used with rose and bergamot in the Enchant Range that is high in anti-oxidants and helps fight the signs of ageing skin.

4. Chamomile

Chamomile

Another one of my favourite essential oils due to its calming effect. Chamomile essential oils help to reduce skin redness and inflammation. It also helps to reduce dryness. The anti-inflammatory effect of chamomile is the same as using a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. And works by inhibiting the release of inflammatory enzymes. Thus resulting in less inflammation and redness of the skin.

Try our Calm Range that is made specifically for sensitive skin and contains lavender, chamomile and neroli essential oils.

5. Neroli

The great thing about neroli essential oil is that it is non-sensitising and also non-irritating. Meaning you can use it again and again without it causing breakouts. Nonetheless, in some individuals, it can cause allergic reactions. Neroli essential oil reduces skin fragility and can reduce the signs of scars and stretch marks by encouraging cell regeneration. And also helps to lessen the signs of wrinkles. Younger skin, with reduced redness. Can I get a Woop Woop?

Try our Calm Range that is made specifically for sensitive skin and contains lavender, chamomile and neroli essential oils. The Radiant Range also contains neroli essential oil with rose and grapefruit to help clear oily skin and helps to reduce scarring including acne scars.

6. Rose

Rose

Rose essential oil is extracted from rose petals, and has hydrating and moisturising effects on the skin, calms inflammation, redness and eczema and repairs broken capillaries. Rose essential oil also helps to cleanse the skin from bacteria that can cause acne and helps hydrate dry skin.

Rose essential oil is used with sandalwood and bergamot in the Enchant Range that is high in anti-oxidants and helps fight the signs of ageing skin. The Radiant Range also contains neroli essential oil with rose and grapefruit to help clear oily skin and helps to reduce scarring including acne scars.

7. Clary Sage

A natural regulator of sebum production, clary sage has an array of anti-inflammatory properties that help your skin reclaim a healthy glow. Regular use also helps gently tone and tighten the skin.

The Love Range is a mix of clary sage, ylang-ylang and jasmine to help brighten and tone skin.

Stay beautiful always,

Take Care:
If you suffer from hypertension, skin allergies or any other medical condition, please consult your doctor first before using essential oils.

Do a patch test on the inside of your arm to make sure you do not have any allergic reactions before using.
Always use 100% pure and high-quality essential oils for the best results.
Never use essential oils as is on your skin. Always dilute first with a carrier oil (1 drop of essential oil in 1 tsp of carrier oil).
